Schedule your spring registration appointment or workshop

Pre-major (lower-division) students, it's time to schedule your academic advising appointment or group registration workshop.
Remove holds!

You may have noticed that a registration hold has recently been placed on your account. These holds are placed on all pre-major (lower-division) students in the college, and will prevent you from registering for spring 2017 semester courses. Your hold will be removed once you have taken the following action steps.

Freshmen (OA Hold):

All first-semester freshmen are required to make a 30-minute appointment with their academic advisor. During this appointment, you can check-in with your advisor about how your current coursework is going, discuss major exploration, and talk about engagement opportunities you are considering. You may also want to review your APAS if you are unsure which liberal education or major coursework you have completed. We also encourage you to discuss your adjustment to the U, and ask any questions you have about academic or support resources you need.

Another goal of this appointment is to prepare you for spring 2017 registration by discussing which courses you may want to register for when your enrollment time comes. Most freshmen will not register for courses until the end of November, but you should plan to schedule your appointment by mid-November to ensure you will be able to register on time.

To schedule an appointment, please call the Academic Advising Office at 612-624-2890 or use online scheduling. Advisors will begin seeing students for registration appointments starting the week of October 2, 2016. First-year students who have sophomore standing based on previous credit earned must still meet one-on-one with their advisor.

All other pre-major students (OA1, OA2, or OA3 Hold):
All other pre-major students will need to attend a Group Registration Workshop in order to have their OA1, OA2 or OA3 holds removed. You are not required to meet one-on-one with an advisor in addition to the workshop; however, you are welcome to do so after you have attended a workshop. During this workshop, you will have a brief presentation by advisors related to engagement, the application to your major process, career exploration and important deadlines. In addition, you will plan your spring 2017 semester schedule.

Please follow the below steps to schedule a workshop:

Step One: log in to cseadvisingworkshop.appointments.umn.edu

Step Two: Select Academic Advising Workshop (do not select individual appointment)

Step Three: Select the schedule for Jennifer Showers (do not select your college advisor)

Step Four: Search for a workshop. Workshops begin the week of September 25 and run through the first week of November.

Please bring an electronic device with which you can access your APAS Report or a hard copy of the report to the Group Registration Workshop. Prior to this workshop, you may find it helpful to review the Four-Year Plan for your intended major(s).
