About UROP

UROP offers funding to University of Minnesota undergraduate students to work on a research project with a faculty mentor. UROP provides a stipend of up to $1,500 for approximately 120 hours of research.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a UROP project, you must be:
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
  • In good academic standing
  • Registered for at least six credits during the semester that you will do research

To Apply:

UROP projects can be based on a student's idea or on a faculty member's existing project. You will need to find a faculty member whose research is a match with your interests and abilities and decide together what your project will entail. You must submit the UROP application, your research proposal, and the faculty mentor recommendation form to apply.

Spring 2018 applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017.
Students may apply for only one award at each program deadline. Visit the UROP website to apply or find more information including sample proposals, tips on finding a faculty mentor, and program details.
