Scholarship offers up to $5,000 to future entrepreneurs

Applications are being accepted for the Lynn Johnson-Johnson Brothers Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship for up to $5,000. Application deadline is Monday, March 5.

Do you have a dream of starting your own business, non-profit, or arts venture? Do you have an inspiration for developing a new product or mobile app? If you do, the Lynn Johnson-Johnson Brothers Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship may help you reach that goal. Applications for the scholarship from students in all University of Minnesota Twin Cities undergraduate colleges are encouraged.

About the program:
The scholarship will support full-time University of Minnesota Twin Cities juniors and seniors with financial need, who have a strong, demonstrated interest in entrepreneurial initiatives. The campus-wide scholarship is available for the 2018 -2019 academic year. As many as five new
scholarships up to $5,000 will be awarded  for the academic year to help cover students’ cost of attendance.

The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a one-time grant of $2,500, based on the review of applications and the judgment of the TTA Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors.

To be considered, interested individuals must:
  • be a full-time, undergraduate student enrolled in 13 credits or more each semester;
  • attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities;
  • be a junior (60 or more credits at the time the scholarship starts) or a senior enrolled in a degree-granting program, an enrolled in any Twin Cities undergraduate college;
  • have financial need, meeting low-to-middle-income status as defined by FAFSA and current University standards;
  • have a strong academic record with timely progress toward a four-year degree;
  • show evidence of a strong commitment to entrepreneurial initiative. 
  • have a current completed or estimated FAFSA application for the academic year on file of the University;
  • have completed the designated scholarship application.

The deadline for the initial completed applications is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018.

The scholarship is administered by the UMTC Office of Undergraduate Education.
