CSE students are encouraged to get involved as a volunteer with the Minnesota 4H Engineering Design Challenge. You'll serve as a role model and inspiration for youth to attend higher education and pursue careers in science and engineering.

Make a difference!

Get involved as a volunteer with the Minnesota 4H Engineering Design Challenge, where you'll serve as a role model and inspiration for youth to attend higher education and pursue careers in science and engineering.

The challenge is a program designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and problem solving in a non-traditional learning environment. The Level 1 challenge is for youth in grades 3-8 and the Level 2 challenge is for grades 9-12. The theme for the 2018 challenge is to create a machine that plants a seed and waters it.

Interested? Complete the interest form or contact grind095@umn.edu.

You can engage with youth in a variety of ways as they work to achieve their goals for the
2018 challenge.
  • Be a judge for the state showcase event;
  • Serve as a mentor for Level 2 teams participating in the challenge;
  • Be a part of the spring informational webinar for Level 2 teams;
  • Be a part of Engineer Design Challenge short instructional videos in fall 2018.
