Applications for fall semester admission to the major are now being accepted

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major.
Apply to your major!

The deadline for fall 2018 admission into the major is Friday, May 25, 2018.

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. To be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses
(double-boxed on the Four-Year Plan) for your chosen major completed by the end of the spring 2018 semester, and you must have at least a 2.0 technical GPA.

The application to the major system recognizes courses taken at the University of Minnesota only, so please make sure any AP/IB coursework or transfer coursework that is required to apply to your major appears correctly on your APAS report. If you have completed classes outside of the University, advisors will need to manually confirm that you have all of the mandatory coursework. Your application can only be accepted if all of your courses are accounted for on your APAS.

The deadline to apply to a major during for fall semester admission is May 25, 2018, and it is recommended that you apply as soon as possible so admissions counselors can gain a better understanding of the demand for each program and advise students accordingly.

Admission to the major decisions at the end of the spring semester are based on space availability,
meaning there is no guaranteed technical GPA. While 2.0 is the minimum technical GPA to be
considered for a major in the College of Science and Engineering, many of our majors have a cutoff at a higher technical GPA due to limited space.

As a reminder, your technical GPA is comprised only of courses taken at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. The technical GPA is unbracketed, meaning that all attempts at a course (which resulted in a letter grade of A-F) are factored in.

To learn more about which classes count towards your technical GPA, visit the Technical GPA Information website.

If you have any concerns about your ability to be admitted to your chosen major, please speak with your advisor about your options. If you currently have a Major Declaration Required (MDR) hold on your record, please note that the hold will not be removed until you are admitted into a major.

Apply to your major.
