CSE undergraduate students are invited to join the CSE Career Center on a site visit to local Fortune 500 company 3M. The visit will showcase 3M innovation and will highlight career paths for students.

This site visit is open to all undergraduate students in these majors:
  • Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Materials Science
  • Mechanical Engineering

About the site visit

This site visit will provide an insider's look at how 3M fosters innovation across more than 40 different business units. Meet 3M innovators past and present, and be surrounded with 3M’s rich and diverse technologies, processes, and products that you can see, hear, and touch.

The visit will include an overview of 3M and their areas of innovation, a tour of their innovation center, and a career panel with recent CSE alumni focusing on opportunities available CSE students.

Logistics and attire

Students will check in for this event between 8:30-8:40 a.m. at Lily Plaza (east side of Northrop Auditorium). The bus will leave for 3M at 8:40 a.m. The group will leave 3M about 12:15 p.m. and should arrive back on campus about 12:45 p.m.

Corporate casual attire is required. This means no denim of any color, sneakers, or casual attire such as sweatshirts. Appropriate attire includes khaki pants, dress slacks or a skirt, with a button down shirt, blouse or sweater.

Registration and cancellation policy

To register, search for event #3669 on GoldPASS. Please make sure that you have no time conflicts before registering for this event.

If you need to cancel, you must email the CSE Career Center at csecareer@umn.edu before noon Monday, April 9.  If you cancel after the deadline or do not show up for the event, you will be blocked from GoldPASS until you have written a formal letter of apology to our hosts at 3M.
