The SMART Learning Commons is now accepting student applications for Spring 2019 peer tutors. Apply by Monday, Nov. 12. Tutors are especially needed for high-demand subjects, including math, physics, statistics, chemistry, and computer science.

The SMART Learning Commons is now accepting student applications for 2018-2019 peer tutors.

Tutors are especially needed for high-demand subjects, including math (particularly Calculus II and below), physics, statistics, chemistry, biology, computer science, economics, accounting, Earth sciences, and writing.

Initial pay is $10.50/hr. Salary increases with training and experience.

SMART supports more than 250 different courses at the University, and does hire for other subjects based on student demand. Competitive applicants are able to support multiple courses/subjects.

Qualifications
To be eligible for consideration, you must:
  • Be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (and maintain that enrollment status throughout your employment period, if offered the position)
  • Maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA (3.5 or above is recommended)
  • Have received “A” grade(s) in the course(s) in which you hope to tutor
    • Competency equivalents (AP exam scores of 4 or higher, comparable CLEP exam scores, transfer credit, etc.) also are accepted
    • "A-" grades may be considered, provided SMART receives a faculty endorsement letter for each "A-" course on behalf of the applicant
The application deadline is 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12.
