Meet with Career Center Peer Assistants during residence hall drop-ins Sept. 9 and 10

The CSE Career Center is holding drop-in appointments for first-and second-year students Monday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Pioneer and Frontier residence halls. This is a great opportunity to ask career-related questions and receive advice from your peers.

The CSE Career Center is holding drop-in appointments for first-and second-year students in Pioneer and Frontier residence halls. This is a great opportunity to ask career-related questions and receive advice from your peers who have been through the job-search process.

The events are targeted at students living in CSE Living Learning Communities, although any first- and second-year CSE students living on campus are welcome.

Sample discussion topics or questions may include:

  • Why should first-year students attend the Career Fair? How can first-year students prepare for the Career Fair?
  • How to download and use the Career Fair app
  • What to talk about with employers at the Career Fair
  • Practicing your elevator speech and handshake, and feedback on Career Fair attire
  • Career Fair preparation and navigating the event
  • Following up with employers and preparing for interviews
  • How to use GoldPASS powered by Handshake

Residence hall drop-in hours are hosted by CSE Career Center Peer Assistants. Peer Assistants have been trained in all common career topics including resumes, cover letters, job searches, online resources, interview preparation, and more. Additionally, peer assistants have personal experience working at internships in CSE fields. They are skilled in navigating the challenges of the job search, and are able to offer personal advice to students based on their experiences.

Drop-in attendees are welcome to ask career-related questions such as choosing the right major, finding an internship, preparing for interviews, and more. Peer Assistants also will provide resume and cover letter reviews for students who bring hard copies.
