First-Generation College Celebration Week
Nov. 4-8, 2019

The campuswide celebration includes events, workshops, panel discussions, and other activities throughout the week. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to share their #UMNFirst story and attend events across campus. The celebration wraps up on Friday, Nov. 8, with a first-gen group photo (in your free first-gen T-shirt) at noon on the Northrop Plaza.

If neither of your parents have earned a four-year college degree in the U.S., then you are considered a first-generation college student.

Everyone is encouraged to use items in the marketing toolkit to share their first-gen pride or support; use the hashtags #CelebrateFirstGen, #FirstGenProud, and #UMNFirst in social media posts; and wear "First-Gen Proud buttons available at campus locations beginning Wednesday, Nov. 6.
