Classes online through spring semester, students can request grading option

The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). In-person instruction on all University campuses is suspended and classes will be delivered online through the end of the semester. Undergraduate students may choose A/F grading OR the S/N option for an unlimited number of Spring Semester 2020 and B-term courses. The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Things to know: 
  • Beginning March 18 and through the end of the Spring 2020 semester, in-person instruction on all University campuses is suspended. Students should contact their instructor for further guidance.
  • Undergraduate students may choose A/F grading OR the S/N option for an unlimited number of Spring Semester 2020 and B-term courses as outlined in the Provost's update on S/N grading and extended withdrawal deadlines.
  • The University is working on a plan to continue to pay employees, including student employees, regardless of the work employees can or cannot do, through the end of the semester. 
  • Most University events have been canceled or postponed, including all athletic competitions, student group competitions and commencements for the Spring 2020 semester. The University has set up a form seeking suggestions on commencement alternatives.
  • The University has canceled all study and education abroad programs starting before July 1. More information is available on the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance web page.
  • Most University buildings systemwide now require a U Card or other secure means of access, consistent with the protocol for each of our campuses. Review President Gabel’s March 16 message for additional information.
