Spring break extended to March 18, classes go online until at least April 1

The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Spring break is being extended until March 18. Beginning March 18, 2020, until at least April 1, 2020, all coursework at the University of Minnesota will be delivered online or through alternative instruction. The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Five things to know: 
  • Review President Gabel's March 13 announcement for the latest updates on COVID-19 and information about events at the University of Minnesota. 
  • Spring break is being extended until March 18. Beginning March 18, 2020, until at least April 1, 2020, all coursework on all five University of Minnesota campuses will be delivered through alternative instruction. Review President Gabel’s March 11 announcement for additional information. 
  • All non-essential, University-funded travel, both domestic and international, for faculty, staff, and students has been cancelled from March 16-April 30, 2020. Review President Gabel’s March 10 announcement and President Gabel's March 11 announcement for additional information. 
  • Travelers who arrived from South Korea, Italy or Iran on or after March 4, 2020, are advised by health officials to stay at home and monitor their health for 14 days after their return. For more information, visit the Safe Campus website COVID-19 and travel advisories web page
  • As of March 11, 2020, the U.S. federal government announced additional guidances for travelers returning from some areas of Europe. Please see the latest from the U.S. State Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • If you have traveled domestically or abroad to an area affected by COVID-19 or have had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, health officials encourage you to seek further guidance from your preferred health professional.
