Gain valuable leadership skills while you welcome new students to the U!

The Office of Orientation and Transition Experiences (OTE) is hiring a team of orientation leaders for summer 2021 who want to make a positive impact on incoming students. Orientation leaders are responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment during New Student Orientation and Welcome Week, focusing on providing a quality transitional experience for new students.

These paid, part-time positions provide student leaders with the opportunity to work remotely in June and July leading daily sessions with incoming Gophers. It is expected that there will be in-person responsibilities during Welcome Week. Applications will be available from January 20-February 3. Position responsibilities and requirements include:
  • Complete OUE3311: Leadership Development for University Student Leaders
  • Supervise and train a group of 10-15 Welcome Week leaders during the Spring Welcome Week Leader Conference
  • Complete summer training in June
  • Host daily "Transitioning to College" sessions for first-year students during freshman orientation
  • Host daily "Transitioning to the U" sessions for transfer students during transfer orientation
  • Complete Welcome Week training
  • Supervise and train a group of 10-15 Welcome Week leaders for Welcome Week Leader Prep Weekend and throughout the Welcome Week program 
Student employees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher throughout employment to be reviewed each semester, and enrolled full-time (13 credits) through fall semester 2021. Prior presentation experience and strong organizational skills are preferred.
