Help Minnesota industries become more efficient!

The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) is accepting applications for its 2021 summer intern program and is seeking students to fill up to 20 positions. Applications can be submitted at any time until all positions are filled.

MnTAP works with Minnesota businesses to develop and implement industry-tailored solutions that prevent pollution at the source, maximize efficient use of resources, and reduce energy use and costs to improve public health and the environment. Each summer, they host approximately 16 intern projects with client companies to tackle their pollution prevention goals. These projects are led by student interns (one per project) with remote advisory support from a MnTAP scientist or engineer.

As a MnTAP intern you will spend the summer working on-site at your company; learning the facility where you're working; and working with on-site operators, maintenance staff, and engineers to identify solutions and develop implementation plans.

Eligibility

Juniors or seniors in any engineering or environmental science discipline are eligible to apply. To qualify, you should have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and should possess good oral and written communication skills. While requirements vary from project to project, students generally also should have a technical academic background, and should demonstrate initiative and leadership necessary to lead their own projects.

You'll work 500 hours over the summer on a schedule agreed upon with the company supervisor. The pay is $14/hour, with an additional $1,000 stipend received upon submission of your final report. At the end of the summer, you'll present project results at your company and at a MnTAP-sponsored event.

To apply, visit the MnTAP website application page.
