Students will learn about Medtronic's industry presence and the company's internship program, and tour three different innovation centers.

Medtronic is the world’s largest medical technology company, offering an unprecedented breadth and depth of innovative therapies to fulfill their mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life. Last year, more than 10 million people benefited from Medtronic’s medical therapies, which treat cardiac and vascular diseases, diabetes, and neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.

The tour will include:
  • 3D Printing Lab: This lab works to provide 3D prints for device prototypes, custom fixtures for testing, and digital anatomy prints for visualization and modeling.
  • Use Conditions Lab: See how Medtronic uses medical imaging, modeling, bench testing, and physiological studies that help to characterize how devices move and interact within the body, influence new medical device designs, and create 3D heart models.
  • Reliability and Failure Analysis Lab: This neuromodulation lab is set up to test samples from technology, research and development, manufacturing, and the field. Learn about Medtronic's work in failure investigation, failure recreation, and reliability testing.
Each fall Medtronic hires their summer interns primarily from the following majors: electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, materials science, and chemical engineering.
