Important information!

If you have been placed on academic probation following the Spring 2021 semester, schedule your probation advising appointment today to meet the Friday, Oct. 8 deadline.

Please review the following information to know what is expected of you while on probation. Information for scheduling appointments is included. This information can also be found on the CSE Academic Probation and Suspension website, as well as in emails you received from CSE about your probation requirements. Failure to complete your requirements by the deadline may result in suspension from the University.

Please note: upper division (in-the-major) students have additional meetings to complete as part of their probation requirements.

Requirements you must complete while on academic probation

While you are on academic probation, you may register for spring 2022 classes during your designated queue time if you have completed the following steps.

Pre-major (lower division) requirements:
  1. Register for classes. You must be registered for fall 2021 classes prior to the probation appointment with your college advisor.
  2. Schedule a probation appointment with your college advisor. You must contact the CSE Academic Advising Office by Oct. 8, 2021 to schedule that appointment. Schedule your appointment online.
  3. Complete the Academic Probation Self-Assessment worksheet (PDF) prior to your appointment. If this form is not complete at the start of your appointment, your probation hold will not be moved, as you will not have met a term of your probation. This means you will not be able to register at your queue time and may require rescheduling your appointment with your advisor.
  4. During your appointment, be prepared to discuss your completed forms, as well as your goals for the term and changes you will make or have made to improve your academic record.
Admitted to major (upper division) requirements:
  1. Register for classes. You must be registered for fall 2021 classes prior to the probation appointments with your Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) or departmental advisor and your college advisor.
  2. Schedule a probation appointment with your DUGS or departmental advisor. If you are admitted to more than one CSE major, you will need to meet with DUGS or departmental advisors from each of your majors.
  3. Schedule a probation appointment with your college advisor. You must contact the CSE Academic Advising office to schedule that appointment by Oct. 8, 2021.This appointment cannot be scheduled for a date prior to the appointment with your DUGS or departmental advisor. Schedule an appointment with your CSE college advisor online.
  4. Complete the Academic Probation Contract and Self-Assessment Worksheet prior to your appointments and be prepared to discuss your worksheet with your DUGS or departmental advisor. Then, have your worksheet ready to discuss with your college advisor. If this form is not complete at the start of your appointment with your college advisor, your probation hold will not be moved, as you will not have met a term of your probation. This means you will not be able to register at your queue time and may require rescheduling your appointment with your advisor.
  5. During your appointment, be prepared to discuss your completed forms, as well as your goals for the term and changes you will make/have made to improve your academic record.
More information on probation can be found on the CSE Academic Probation and Suspension website.
