Sign up for the A Friend in STEM mentorship program connecting undergraduate students interested in STEM with University of Minnesota scientists. The primary goal of the program is to make the complicated process of getting involved in research, being successful in a lab, and applying to graduate programs more accessible to undergraduate students of all backgrounds. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 18.

Sign up for the A Friend in STEM mentorship program connecting undergraduate students interested in STEM with University of Minnesota scientists. 

A mentor can be a valuable source of information on building a network of research and faculty members necessary for those who want to pursue a career in STEM. Mentors can also leverage their graduate school and University laboratory experiences to help you make informed decisions about undergraduate research and provide support if and when you choose to pursue a graduate degree.

The primary goal of the A Friend in STEM mentor program is to make the complicated process of getting involved in research, being successful in a lab, and applying to graduate programs more accessible to undergraduate students of all backgrounds.

How it works
  • Complete the A Friend in STEM student interest form by the Friday, Feb. 18, deadline
  • Program organizers will match you with a graduate student, post-doc, or research scientist mentor on campus
  • Your mentor will contact you to set up a meeting over Zoom
  • You'll think about your long- and short-term career goals and how your mentor might be able to help you achieve them
  • Meet with your mentor and together decide what comes next
