Employers Yelp, Johnson and Johnson, Granite, and SAS will host virtual information sessions this week.

Celebrate CSE Week 2022 April 4-8

Join fellow CSE students in celebrating CSE Week 2022 Monday, April 4-Friday, April 8. A variety of fun and educational activities are planned. Coordinated by the student organization Plumb Bob, CSE week is a long-standing tradition in the college that dates back more than 100 years.

Apply for fall admission to your major by Wednesday, May 25

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 25.

Take the Women's Center surveys by Wednesday, April 6 for a chance to win a $25 Target gift card

The Women's Center invites students to participate in two surveys related to gender equity and gendered impacts on caregiving during the pandemic. Both surveys are anonymous and offer a chance to enter a raffle for a $25 Target gift card. The surveys close Wednesday, April 6.

Apply for Wolfram Summer School in July

The Wolfram research recruiting program is now accepting applications for the 20th annual Summer School, an immersive project-based experience involving computer experiments based on the Wolfram language. The program offers tracks in physics and mathematics, science and technology, and education innovation. The program runs Sunday, July 3-Friday, July 22 in person at Wolfram Research Headquarters in Champaign, IL. Summer School attendees are also required to attend an online preparatory week Monday, June 27-Saturday, July 2.

Employers General Electric, Element Materials Technology Group, and Google will host virtual information sessions and a virtual open house this week and next.

Attend the Anderson Student Innovation Labs robot meet and greet on Wednesday, March 23

Join the Anderson Student Innovation Labs on Wednesday, March 23, 3-5 p.m., for a meet and greet with Skippy, an autonomous delivery robot from Minneapolis-based Carbon Origins. Hear from engineers about Skippy's design decisions, challenges, and more.

Participate in a mental health focus group for CSE students

Do you have thoughts about student mental health in CSE that you’d like to share? Does being a CSE student have an effect on your mental health? Do you feel supported on campus in regard to your mental health? CSE and the public health team at Boynton Health are interested in your experiences and opinions about student mental health in CSE, and invite you to apply to participate in a focus group via Zoom with members of the Boynton public health team. Focus group meetings are in late March and early April. Apply by Sunday, March 27.

Register for the 'Engineered Across the Lakes' virtual engagement and career fair on Tuesday, March 22

Join the University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison for "Engineered Across the Lakes, a virtual engagement and career fair highlighting top employers from the Upper Midwest. Set for Tuesday, March 22, 1-6 p.m. Central Time, the event will include networking among students, alumni, and recruiting professionals that will open the door to co-op, internship, and full-time opportunities in engineering and related fields. The event is open to all CSE undergraduate students.

Book your spring academic advising appointment today

CSE students who have not yet been admitted to their major (lower division) are required to meet with their academic advisor before registering for fall semester classes. Schedule your appointment now to discuss your Fall 2022 plans.

Resume and cover letter audio/video review service now available

CSE students and alumni who have graduated in the last year now are able to submit a resume or cover letter for review and receive feedback via audio and/or video. A peer advisor in the CSE Career Center will review your resume and send customized feedback to your email within three business days.

Volunteer to be a facilitator for the CSE and 4-H 'Engineering Energy Explorers' program

College of Science and Engineering (CSE) student volunteer facilitators are needed for 'Engineering Energy Explorers,' a virtual after school program for middle school students to explore engineering. The five-week program, offered by CSE in partnership with Minnesota 4-H, will be held Thursdays, March 24-April 21, from 6-7 p.m. Central Time. CSE student volunteers will facilitate small breakout rooms to provide support and feedback to participants, and must commit to attending one or more program sessions.

Register for the STEM entrepreneurship panel on Thursday, March 17

Register for the STEM Entrepreneurship Panel with MN Cup and the Louis Stokes North Star STEM Alliance to hear from a panel of Minnesota entrepreneurs doing business in a variety of STEM-related fields on Thursday, March 17 at 4 p.m. The event will be virtual, but registration is required and limited seating is available for interested students to attend a watch party in the Toaster Innovation Hub.
