Employer MEDITECH will host a virtual information session for CSE students this week.

Last day to withdraw from a fall semester class is Monday, Nov. 14

Monday, Nov. 14 is the last day you can withdraw from a fall 2022 full-semester class without using your One-Time-Only Late Withdrawal or petitioning to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances. If you withdraw now, you will have a "W" on your record.

Sign up for the A Friend in STEM mentorship program by Friday, Nov. 4

Sign up for the A Friend in STEM mentorship program connecting undergraduate students interested in STEM with University of Minnesota scientists. The primary goal of the program is to make the complicated process of getting involved in research, being successful in a lab, and applying to graduate programs more accessible to undergraduate students of all backgrounds. The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 4.

First-year students: Attend the Ireland summer session for first-year CSE students information session on Friday, Oct. 28

Learn about an opportunity for CSE first-year students to join other Big Ten STEM students in beautiful Dublin for six weeks in summer 2023 while fulfilling Physics II (PHYS 1302) and liberal education requirements (Historical Perspectives and Global Perspectives). An info session is planned for Friday, Oct. 28, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Mechanical Engineering, Room 1130.

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) will host CEMS Week events Monday, Oct. 31-Friday, Nov. 4 for students to talk with faculty, take lab tours, and learn about the department's new master's degree in Data Science. The CSE major exploration events are scheduled throughout October and November. CSE 1001 students are required to attend at least one in-person event and are encouraged to attend more than the minimum.

Network with professionals at the Medical Devices and Manufacturing trade show Wednesday, Nov. 2-Thursday, Nov. 3

Explore the latest insights and solutions spanning medtech, packaging, automation, plastics, and design; attend a career networking and advancement workshop; and network with hundreds of company representatives at the Medical Devices and Manufacturing (MD&M) trade show on Wednesday, Nov. 2-Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The event is free for University of Minnesota students.

The University of Minnesota Ronald E. McNair Program is accepting applications through Friday, Nov. 11, for its 2023 cohort. The goal of McNair Scholars is to give undergraduate students intensive, faculty-driven research experiences and prepare students for entry into graduate school. Students receive a stipend and course credit.

Apply to study renewable energy in Germany this winter

Travel to Germany in January 2023 and learn about the country's renewable energy system in cities and regions fully powered by renewable energy. Meet leaders from Germany and Minnesota who are involved in solving the social, technical, and political challenges of transforming industrial economies. The application deadline is Saturday, Oct. 15.

Apply to the Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity by Thursday, Dec. 15

Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity (GFSD) is accepting applications for its STEM diversity fellowship program for undergraduate seniors who plan to pursue a graduate degree in a variety of STEM disciplines. Fellowships offer a $20,000 stipend and an opportunity to do a paid internship at national laboratories. The application deadline is Thursday, Dec. 15.
