Celebration details and list of events

The campuswide celebration includes pop-up celebrations, workshops, an open house, movie night, and other activities throughout the week.

Additionally, first-generation students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in the social media campaign "Hidden Treasures: #WeAreTheFirsts," by sharing a short Flipgrid video of their story. Videos will be posted on Instagram at @umnfirstgen during the week

If neither of your parents have earned a four-year college degree in the U.S., then you are considered a first-generation college student.

Everyone is encouraged to use items in the marketing toolkit to share their first-gen pride or support and use the hashtags #CelebrateFirstGen and #UMNFirst in social media posts.
