Develop a medical device this summer!
Apply for the Medical Device Innovation Experience for Undergraduates (MDIEU) summer course for students interested in medical technology to gain device developmen, leadership, and team-based experiences. The eight-week course is free and open to all currently-enrolled University students. The course is limited to 25 students and does not carry course credit.
Course participants will find out how to become a medical device innovator by learning the medical device design process, including how to understand clinical needs, design and build early-stage prototypes of medical device concepts, and work with a clinician to co-develop a concept, all while working on a real-world medical device that solves a clinical problem.
The course includes weekly lectures and guided tutorials on topics ranging from hands-on CAD and building electronics, to patent searching, and how to FDA-classify a device. Participants will work in teams with an experienced technical mentor and a medical professional on an actual medical device development project.
The MDIEU course runs from Tuesday, June 6-Tuesday, July 25. The application deadline is Monday, May 1.
