The Cargill thrive scholarship program is accepting applications from sophomore and junior undergraduate students for the 2023-24 academic year The goal of the program is to help students convert their education into meaningful careers through mentoring, professional and leadership development programming, and career coaching.
The Cargill thrive program was developed to ensure more equitable access for women and BIPOC students pursuing careers in STEM, business, and agriculture. Selected students will receive a $5,000 scholarship for the academic year 2023-24, awarded in increments of $2,500 each semester.
Participating in a cohort of thrive Fellows will guarantee an interview for internship opportunities at Cargill, provide exclusive mentoring opportunities both on and off campus with Cargill professionals, and give opportunities to participate in other enrichment activities related to leadership, diversity, and professional development.

Eligible students must:
- Be University of Minnesota Twin Cities sophomore or junior undergraduate students during the 2023-24 academic year
- Be enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering, College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, or Carlson School of Management
- Be working toward a degree in the fields of food, agriculture, business or engineering that relate to the workforce trends within Cargill’s industries
- Be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.7 or above)
- Have the right to work in the U.S. without a need for sponsorship or visa (both now and in the future)
- One $5,000 scholarship for the year, awarded $2,500 per semester
- Guaranteed interview for an internship opportunity at Cargill
- Exclusive mentoring opportunities both on and off campus with Cargill professionals
- Participate in enrichment activities related to leadership, diversity and professional development that can be added to your resume
- Two-day development and networking event at Cargill’s headquarters in Minneapolis in August 2023
