COVID testing on campus, return to distance learning, Thanksgiving and winter break

The University will host a two-day, on-campus clinic Monday, Nov. 16 and Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Field House where you can receive free testing for COVID-19. You are encouraged to get tested, even if you have no symptoms. Free parking is available. Appointments are required. Beginning Monday, Nov. 30, all classes will shift to distance learning until the end of the fall semester, and finals will be remote. If you are returning home for the holidays, know the facts, make a plan with family and friends, and "lay low before you go." 

Register for a WISE/Medtronic virtual Personal Statement Workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 17

Medtronic's Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Initiative, in collaboration with the CSE WISE program, will offer virtual Personal Statement Workshops on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The workshops are prior to the graduate school applications due date so you can be prepared to put your best foot forward! Space is limited, so sign up soon.

Attend the First-Year Physics study groups tutoring event on Zoom

The first year of physics classes are challenging, and study groups can provide academic and moral support. All students are invited to participate in first-year physics study sessions on Zoom organized by the WISE Initiative to help form those groups on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 4-6 p.m.

International students: Sign up for personal statement consultations on Zoom

University Career Services Administration will offer personal statement consultations for international students applying for graduate or professional school between Monday, Nov. 16-Friday, Jan. 15. There are options for live Zoom meetings or a recorded evaluation to view later.

Take part in the virtual 'Freezin' for a Reason' 5K Friday, Nov. 22-Sunday, Nov. 24

Don't miss the Science and Engineering Student Board's (SESB) annual Freezin' for a Reason 5K. This year's event will be hosted virtually, and proceeds will benefit Every Meal, a Twin Cities' organization dedicated to reducing food insecurity by providing kids with lunches during weekends and over breaks. Runners and walkers can complete their race anytime between Friday, Nov. 20-Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020.
