Meet with employers online to discuss current openings from the comfort of your home at the Neurodiversity Virtual Career Fair on Wednesday, March 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Participating organizations currently include GlaxoSmithKline and Jabil.

Attend the Health Professional School Expo on Wednesday, March 26

The Health Professional School Expo aims to connect pre-health students with admissions representatives from various health professional schools (medicine, pharmacy, public health, etc.) across the country. This event will be on Wednesday, March, 26, noon-3 p.m., Coffman Memorial Union.

Visit and tour the Tithof Lab on Thursday, March 27

The CSE Undergraduate Research Advocates invite students to visit the Tithof Lab on Thursday, March 27, 3-4 p.m., Mechanical Engineering, room 1130. The Tithof Lab, led by Assistant Professor Jeff Tithof, studies biological fluid mechanics, including brain fluid flow that changes with age and in various disease states. Volunteering in the lab for one or two semesters may lead to co-authorship on a publication and/or an offer for a paid research position in the lab.

Attend the CODES and WISE Collage workshop on Friday, March 28

Students are invited to join an artist-led workshop on Friday, March 28, 10 a.m.-noon, Lind Hall, offering an opportunity to connect with peers. Each attendee will receive a collage kit and have the chance to take home their own piece of art.

Monday, April 7 is the last day you can withdraw from a spring 2025 full-semester class without using your One-Time-Only Late Withdrawal or petitioning to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances. If you withdraw now, you will have a "W" on your record.

Attend a lab tour on Wednesday, March 19, to learn more about the research opportunities in CSE and how to get involved. Professor Arnold's lab studies how organic pollutants—such as industrial solvents, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals—behave in natural systems (e.g., lakes and rivers) and engineered systems (e.g., drinking water pipes and treatment technologies for contaminated waters).

MN Cup, the largest statewide new startup competition in the United States, is now accepting applications for 2025. MN Cup provides opportunities for mentoring, educational resources, and cash prizes. Over $400,000 in prize money will be given away to competitors, with no equity taken or strings attached. Join the WISE Spring Break Book Club

WISE invites the CSE community to participate in its annual Spring Break Book Club! This year’s book, The Body Farm by Abby Geni, is an intense and insightful collection that explores both the horrors and joys of inhabiting our bodies. Books will be available for pickup at the CSE Student Services desk (105 Lind Hall) starting Wednesday, March 5 at 1 p.m. through Friday, March 7. Once participants sign up, they can pick up their book. Discussions are Tuesday, March 18, or Wednesday, March 19.

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses (indicated by a diamond on the four-year plan) for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 25.

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) will host a breakfast in honor of Women's History Month on Tuesday, March 4. Breakfast will be provided by Sky Lakes Catering. All CSE students are welcome to attend.

Attend the CODES community event: Ice skating on Thursday, March 6

The Community of Diverse Engineers and Scientists (CODES) will host a free ice-skating event at the University of Minnesota's Ridder Arena with Insomnia Cookies on Thursday, March 6. All CSE students are welcome to attend.

Apply for an IMEG Engineering scholarship by Friday, March 14

IMEG Engineering, a national engineering and design consulting company, is accepting applications from sophomore, junior, and senior underrepresented undergraduate students for the 2025-26 IMEG Engineering scholarship. IMEG awards individual scholarships of up to $10,000 to multiple students nationwide who are pursuing an engineering degree. The application deadline is Friday, March 14.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2025 CSE Community Impact Awards, presented by the College of Science and Engineering. The CSE Community Impact Awards recognize excellence among College of Science and Engineering students, faculty, and staff as they work to create a more inclusive and welcoming institution for all students. The nomination deadline is Thursday, March 20.

CSE Academic Advising is seeking current CSE students to serve as Orientation Peer Leaders for summer 2025. This is a fun summer job that will help you build your resume with communication and leadership skills while welcoming new students to the University of Minnesota. The priority deadline to apply is Monday, April 7, and the final deadline is Monday, April 21.

Students with AWS holds: Book your required spring advising workshop today

College of Science and Engineering students who have an AWS hold are required to attend a one-hour advising workshop before registering for fall classes. Please note that most students will not register until later in April; however, students are strongly encouraged to schedule now, as workshops are limited and fill quickly.

All College of Science and Engineering (CSE) students who have an OA or MDR hold are required to meet with their academic advisor prior to the fall semester to discuss registration. More than 160 organizations from all employment sectors will be recruiting for hundreds of jobs, internships, and other employment opportunities at the University of Minnesota Job and Internship Fair on Friday, Feb. 28. The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Huntington Bank Stadium and McNamara Alumni Center.

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Community of Diverse Engineers and Scientists (CODES), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and Minorities in Tech will host a lunch in honor of Black History Month on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) will host three virtual information sessions for students to explore its programs and areas of specialization on Wednesday, Feb. 12, Wednesday March 19, and Wednesday April 16. The department also has planned an open house on Saturday, April 19.

The CSE Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Initiative is coordinating a Boston Career Trek Sunday, May 18-Thursday, May 22 for students to visit Boston employers. The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship Program prepares students for leadership roles in the Navy and Marine Corps, serving as the largest source of commissioned officers. The program offers full scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process. Recipients receive full tuition, a book stipend, coverage of educational fees, and other financial benefits—or room and board—at top colleges and universities nationwide. Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Start preparing now for the Spring 2025 CSE Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 4. More than 135 companies and organizations will be available to meet with you as they search for new employees and interns. Registration is now open.

Academic Advising will hold extended drop-in hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21

CSE Academic Advising will hold extended virtual drop-in advising hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 9 a.m.-noon Central Time via Zoom, and 1-4 p.m. in person in Lind Hall, Room 105. You must check in by 3:45 p.m. Normal drop-in advising hours are 2-4 p.m., Monday-Friday and will resume Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Spring 2025 drop-ins for academic advising will be offered Monday through Friday from 2-4 p.m. In-person drop-ins will take place Monday through Friday in 105 Lind Hall. Virtual drop-ins will also be available on Zoom on Mondays.

Practice what it is like to interview with REAL employers virtually before the big interview without the pressure of landing the job and receive valuable feedback. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 29 by 9 a.m.
