The Minnesota Undergraduate Research and Academic Journal (MURAJ) invites undergraduate students to submit their research for the opportunity to receive project funding in spring semester 2022. Apply for an engineering co-op by Tuesday, Jan. 4

Interested in participating in a co-op for academic credit? Applications are due by Tuesday, Jan. 4, for co-ops that begin in spring 2022. If you are wondering what it is like to work as an engineer, a co-op can provide experience under the guidance of experienced engineers. Co-ops allow you to work full time within two consecutive semesters.

Join the CSE Winter Book Club featuring 'Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal' by G. Willow Wilson

The CSE WISE Initiative invites the CSE community to participate in the annual winter book club. Participants will read and discuss "Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal" by G. Willow Wilson, addressing the intersectional identities of a young woman with responsibilities thrust upon her. The book is provided at no cost and will be mailed directly to participants' homes. CSE Academic Advising, Career Services, and Learn Abroad will have reduced hours and drop-in appointments on Thursday, Dec. 16. Drop-in appointments will be available from 2-3 p.m. only, and all CSE Student Services offices will close at 3 p.m. Regular office and drop-in hours will resume Friday, Dec. 17.

Important end-of-semester information for students on academic probation

If you are currently on academic probation, the CSE Office of Academic Advising will review your fall semester grades once posted. If you do not meet the terms of your probationary period, you will be notified of your academic status via your University of Minnesota email by the end of the day Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program proposals due Monday, Oct. 11

Submit your proposal to the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) to do research with a faculty mentor during Spring 2022 and receive a stipend of up to $1,500. The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 11.

Apply for a Bolton and Menk University of Minnesota Scholarship by Friday, Oct. 29

Lower- and upper-division students who are on track to receive a degree from the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering (CEGE) are eligible for a Bolton & Menk Scholarship worth up to $8,000 ($2,000 per year for up to four years). The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 29.

Mentors can be a valuable source of information on how to best position yourself for the career you want and can provide guidance on succeeding academically, balancing school, work, and life, and building lifelong skills like stress management.

The Merjent Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from enrolled junior and senior students who demonstrate academic success and intend to pursue a career in an environmental field. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one individual for the 2021-22 academic year. Applications are due by Monday, Nov. 1.

The Fall 2021 CSE Career Fair is virtual, and beginning Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8 a.m., you can sign up to speak with employers instead of waiting in line! More than 200 companies and organizations will be available during the two-day fair as they search for new employees and interns. Check the lists of employers for both days, since different employers will be available each day.

The CSE Career Center will hold extended virtual drop-in hours Sept. 13-20 in preparation for the Fall 2021 CSE Virtual Career Fair. Students can meet with a career counselor or peer assistant for five to 10 minutes to ask questions about the career fair, job/internship search, or any other career-related topic.

Gophers Protecting Gophers: Get the Vax

Staying safe during COVID-19 takes all of us. That's why University of Minnesota students, enrolled online or in person, are required to complete a Student COVID-19 Vaccination Immunization Form by Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, providing information regarding their vaccination status and any exemptions from receiving the vaccination. Several free, on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics are scheduled during the coming weeks. As a reminder, face coverings are required in all campus buildings until further notice.

Institute on the Environment offers leadership opportunities, information sessions

The University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment (IonE) is accepting applications for its 2021-22 Undergraduate Leaders Program. The program helps emerging undergraduate leaders become real-world change makers committed to solutions-focused leadership. Applications are due Thursday, Sept. 16.
