Important end-of-semester information for students on academic probation

If you are currently on academic probation, the CSE Office of Academic Advising will review your fall semester grades once posted. If you do not meet the terms of your probationary period, you will be notified of your academic status via your University of Minnesota email by the end of the day Friday, May 20, 2022.

Register for the MIN-Corps 'Jumpstart: Technology Commercialization' summer 2022 five-week, online short course

Register for the MIN-Corps Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship Jumpstart: Technology Commercialization I-Corps Lean Launchpad online short course to help researchers explore the commercial viability of their technology-based innovation ideas. Participants receive up to $500 in customer discovery funding, and may become eligible for a $50,000 NSF grant. The five-week course runs Friday, May 13-Friday, July 8 and offers tracks in sustainability and general STEM. The course is free for faculty, researchers, and students.

Apply for a Minnesota Technology Association Foundation scholarship by Friday, May 20

The Minnesota Technology Association (MNTech) Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from Minnesota undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines. Scholarships range from $2,500-$5,000. Applications are due by Friday, May 20.

Are you completing a research project this semester and would like to have it published? Undergraduate students are invited to submit their research for publication in next year's edition of the Minnesota Undergraduate Research and Academic Journal (MURAJ), a student-run academic journal dedicated to the research of undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota. The NASA Pathways Internship Program is accepting applications beginning Monday, April 11. The program is the only internship program at NASA that offers a direct pipeline to full-time employment at NASA upon graduation.

Apply for fall admission to your major by Wednesday, May 25

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 25.

Take the Women's Center surveys by Wednesday, April 6 for a chance to win a $25 Target gift card

The Wolfram research recruiting program is now accepting applications for the 20th annual Summer School, an immersive project-based experience involving computer experiments based on the Wolfram language. The program offers tracks in physics and mathematics, science and technology, and education innovation. Find community and support in the CSE Mental Health Affinity Group

CSE Student Services together with the Science and Engineering Student Board (SESB) have established the CSE Mental Health Affinity Group, a space for CSE undergraduate students to cultivate community and receive support. The group plans to meet in person Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m. for nine weeks in spring semester, beginning Tuesday, March 1-Tuesday, May 3.

Submit nominations for the 2022 CSE DEI Leadership Awards by Friday, Feb. 25

Nominations are being accepted for the 2022 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Leadership Showcase presented by the College of Science and Engineering. The leadership awards recognize the many campus contributions by students that have a positive impact on CSE, the University, and the Twin Cities communities through DEI initiatives. The nomination deadline is Friday, Feb. 25.

Register to participate in RecWell's SKY Happiness online workshop for students. The Spring 2022 CSE Virtual Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 8, is just a couple of days away. Take some time to check out these reminders to make sure you're ready to meet confidently with employers. More than 150 companies and organizations will be available to meet with you one-on-one as they search for new employees and interns. Career Fair hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Time.

Employers FAST Enterprises, Techtronic Industries, Barr Engineering, and Amazon will host information sessions this week about jobs, internships, and other career opportunities. There also will be a government and non-profit jobs virtual hiring event, and a virtual discussion event on the value of an MBA for engineers. Plus, save the date for an internship, co-op, and research virtual student panel. 

Apply for the Mead and Hunt Architecture, Engineering, and Construction scholarship by Monday, March 21

Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction-related fields are invited to apply for a $2,500 one-time Mead and Hunt scholarship for educational expenses. Scholarship recipients also will receive networking and other opportunities for advice, guidance, or support in the student’s career from Mead and Hunt staff. The application deadline is Monday, March 21.
