Learn about guidelines for employers recruiting CSE students

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) understands the competitive and deadline-driven process of recruiting. To reduce the likelihood of students feeling pressured to make hasty decisions to accept then renege on a job offer, employers are asked to adhere to CSE recruiting policies. If you receive an offer that doesn’t meet these guidelines, you can share the policies directly with the company and ask for more time to decide.

Last day to withdraw from a fall semester class is Monday, Nov. 14

Monday, Nov. 14 is the last day you can withdraw from a fall 2022 full-semester class without using your One-Time-Only Late Withdrawal or petitioning to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances. If you withdraw now, you will have a "W" on your record.

Apply for spring admission to your major

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for spring semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Friday, Dec. 30.

The first year of chemistry, physics, and calculus can be challenging, and study groups can provide academic and moral support. All first-year students are invited to participate in chemistry, physics, and calculus facilitated study sessions organized by the CSE RISE and DEI program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays this fall.

CSE Academic Advising will hold extended virtual drop-in advising hours on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Central Time via Zoom. You must check in by 3:45 p.m. Normal drop-in advising hours are 2-4 p.m., Monday-Friday and will resume Wednesday, Sept. 7 via Zoom.

New 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline implemented, campus mental health services updates

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, previously known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, is a national network of more than 200 crisis centers that helps thousands of people overcome crisis situations every day. Calling or texting 988 will connect people with trained state and local mental health professionals who can provide support and appropriate resources to individuals in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

Registration is now open for sophomore, junior, and senior CSE students to sign up to be matched with an industry mentor working in your major or career of interest. Mentors can also provide guidance on succeeding academically, balancing school, work, and life, and building lifelong skills like stress management. The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 26.
