Employers host virtual information sessions for CSE students

Employers UnitedHealth Group, MEDITECH, GE Appliances, U.S. Bank, Walmart, and Chewy will host information sessions this week and next week on career opportunities.

Attend the BBE major virtual sneak preview on Wednesday, March 2

The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) will host a virtual major sneak preview event for students to explore its program areas of specialization on Wednesday, March 2, 5 p.m. Central Time. There also will be a virtual sneak preview of the Sustainable Systems Management (SSM) undergraduate major at 6 p.m.

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) will hold a virtual information session about the major and related career options on Monday, March 21, 6:30 p.m Central Time. NSF-REU high-performance computing research program at UW-Eau Claire applications due March 18

The National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is now accepting applications for its 2022 program in the area of advancing high-performance computing. The program runs Monday, June 6-Friday, Aug. 12, 2022. The application deadline is Friday, March 18.

Apply for the MSPE scholarship for engineering students by Friday, April 29

The Traverse Des Sioux Chapter of the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) is offering a $1,000 scholarship to engineering students who will be juniors or seniors in 2022-23 and have a permanent address in one of the chapter's 17 counties. Apply by Friday, April 29.

Employers Medtronic, Google, Enfusion, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Abbott will host information sessions this week on career opportunities and advice. Vanderbilt University School of Engineering also will present a summer research and graduate program information session.

International students: Register for career fair prep and job strategies workshops designed for you in February and March

University Career Services, the CSE Career Center, and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) will offer career-related workshops and presentations specifically for international students including a virtual career fair prep workshop, international alumni panel, and job search strategies session in February and March.

CSE Student Services together with the Science and Engineering Student Board (SESB) have established the CSE Mental Health Affinity Group, a space for CSE undergraduate students to cultivate community and receive support. The group plans to meet in person Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m. for nine weeks in spring semester, beginning Tuesday, March 1-Tuesday, May 3.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2022 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Leadership Showcase presented by the College of Science and Engineering. More than 150 companies and organizations will be available to meet with you one-on-one as they search for new employees and interns. Career Fair hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Time.

Plus, save the date for an internship, co-op, and research virtual student panel. 

Apply for the Mead and Hunt Architecture, Engineering, and Construction scholarship by Monday, March 21

Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction-related fields are invited to apply for a $2,500 one-time Mead and Hunt scholarship for educational expenses. Scholarship recipients also will receive networking and other opportunities for advice, guidance, or support in the student’s career from Mead and Hunt staff. The application deadline is Monday, March 21.
