TLI Management of Technology minor summer intensive program offered

The Technological Leadership Institute (TLI) will offer the Management of Technology (MoT) minor as a summer intensive program allowing students to complete the entire minor between Monday, May 15-Friday, July 28, 2023. The MoT minor was created specifically for CSE students seeking to gain knowledge and experience in business, entrepreneurship, innovation, and new product development.

Apply for the Medical Device Innovation Experience for Undergraduates summer course by Monday, May 1

Apply for the Medical Device Innovation Experience for Undergraduates (MDIEU) summer course for students interested in medical technology to gain device developmen, leadership, and team-based experiences. The eight-week course is free and open to all currently-enrolled University students. The course is limited to 25 students and does not carry course credit.

Apply to the Cargill thrive scholarship program by Monday, April 10

The Cargill thrive scholarship program is accepting applications from sophomore and junior undergraduate students for the 2023-24 academic year. Selected students will receive a $5,000 scholarship, awarded in increments of $2,500 each semester. The application deadline is Monday, April 10.

Apply for the University of Minnesota Scholarship in Honor of George Floyd by Wednesday, April 26

The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) is now accepting applications University of Minnesota Scholarship in Honor of George Floyd: Twin Cities Award 2023-24. The scholarship application is open to all eligible students, including those with financial need and those who have been victims of police violence. Candidates must be currently registered full-time in an undergraduate degree-seeking program at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 26.

Apply for an IMEG STEM scholarship by Monday, May 15

The IMEG STEM scholarship program is accepting applications from sophomore, junior, and senior underrepresented undergraduate students for the 2023-24 academic year. IMEG awards individual scholarships of up to $10,000 to multiple students nationwide who are pursuing a STEM-related degree with an engineering focus. The application deadline is Monday, May 15.

CSE students who will graduate in May 2023 should complete the Post-Graduation Survey and report their plans following graduation. The survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Attend a virtual info session about the new M.S. degree in for chemical engineering and materials science on Monday, March 20

CSE is excited to announce that it will offer a new, first-of-its-kind master’s degree in data science for chemical engineering and materials science that can be completed in one academic year. In addition to chemical engineering and materials science, the program is open to students from many fields, including chemistry, physics, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Attend a virtual information session on Monday, March 20, noon-1 p.m. Central Time via Zoom.

The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) will host two information sessions for students to explore its programs and areas of specialization on Wednesday, April 5 (virtual), and Thursday, April 20 (in person). Applications are open for fall admission to your major

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses (indicated by a diamond on the four-year plan) for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Thursday, May 25.

Register for the 'Beyond Academia and Industry' career panel on Tuesday, March 14

Empowering Women in Science (EWIS) and the Association of Multicultural Scientists (AMS) will host a Ph.D. career panel on Tuesday, March 14 for students interested in STEM careers. The panel will feature scientists working in science law, bioinformatics, and government positions. The event is open to undergraduate and graduate students and will be held in person and on Zoom. Registration is required.

Volunteers needed for medical devices conference Monday, April 17-Wednesday, April 19

The Design of Medical Devices (DMD) Conference is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of conference activities and tasks on Monday, April 17-Wednesday, April 19. Volunteer shifts are available for conference materials pick up and delivery, event set up, registration, 5K run, and event tear down. Volunteers receive a free conference registration and one lunch.

ExxonMobil Corporation has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to create fellowship opportunities in the STEM fields for Hispanic college students. Through HHF’s Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program, ExxonMobil seeks to nurture motivated college students nationwide with a passion for engineering and science.
