Design for Life: Water in Tanzania

Travel dates: ​Thursday, Jan. 1-Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026

Credit received: Students will receive three credits for ME 4583 or CEGE 4583. This course also fulfills Liberal Educations themes Global Perspectives, and Technology and Society.

Eligibility: Open to upper division CSE students.

Admission: Admission is by application and space is limited.

Language prerequisite: None

Application deadline: Monday, June 30, 2025

Applicants must submit a resume and personal statement to cseabroad@umn.edu.

During this program, student teams will evaluate community needs and infrastructure to model potable water handling systems. The seminar will include a cultural and geographical introduction to Tanzania, its land, and people, as well as a trip to Ruaha National Park, one of the world’s most famous safari destinations.
