Winter break is a great time to begin researching employers and preparing yourself for the Career Fair. Here are some things you can do to make sure you're ready.
Prepare your resume
Review the Undergraduate Resume Guide (PDF) or Graduate Resume and Curricula Vitae Guide (PDF), then schedule an appointment with a career counselor for a resume review.
Create your introduction (your "Elevator Pitch")
Review the Virtual Career Fair Preparation Guide (PDF) and use the "Past, Present, Future, Question" model found in the guide to know what to say about yourself when you meet with employers.
Research employers of interest
Employers attending the Career Fair will expect that you know something about what they do and may ask you why you are interested in their company. Start by reviewing the list of registered employers in Handshake. Next, make a list of employers of interest, then visit companies' websites and LinkedIn pages to learn more about them. Review the Researching Employers and Industries Guide (PDF) to learn more.
Prepare for interviews
Review the Interviewing for Industry Guide (PDF) and make an appointment for a mock interview with a career counselor.
