Tour the Tithof Lab!
The CSE Undergraduate Research Advocates invite students to visit the Tithof Lab this week. The Tithof Lab, led by Assistant Professor Jeff Tithof, studies biological fluid mechanics using a combination of laboratory experiments and numerical simulations.
One area of focus is the glymphatic system, a key waste clearance pathway in the brain that plays an important role in Alzheimer’s and many other diseases. The lab measures cerebrospinal fluid in living mice and uses these measurements to develop realistic simulations of brain fluid flow.
--
The goal of the lab is to understand how waste is efficiently removed from the brain and how this clearance pathway can be maintained with age and in various diseases. They are seeking undergraduate researchers to assist with mouse surgeries, data analysis for measuring fluid flow, and/or the development of numerical simulations.
