Talk it over with a counselor!
Looking to connect with someone? Do you wonder about counseling and what it’s like to talk with a counselor but aren't sure where to start? Then drop in for Let's Talk! No appointment is necessary.
Let’s Talk is a program that provides informal virtual and in-person drop-in consultations for UMN students throughout the academic year at a variety of times and locations across campus five days a week. Let’s Talk consultations are free, confidential, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Let’s Talk is not a substitute for formal counseling and does not constitute mental health treatment, but counselors can listen to specific problems, provide support, help explore solutions and give information about other resources.
Common topics include:
- relationship (family, friends, partners, roommates) issues
- identity-based questions or concerns
- academic stress or skill support
- curiosity about counseling
- adjustment to campus
- support with anything with which you might be struggling
Let's Talk is not designed to provide crisis support. If you are currently experiencing a mental health crisis please use one of the available crisis counseling services.
For Let's Talk, you can pick the location, modality, counselor, and time that will work best for you. The Let's Talk Team has five new counselors, one of whom is located in Lind Hall.
Visit the Let's Talk webpage for more information, the fall 2024 schedule, and counselor bios.
