The Government and Nonprofit Career Fair allows candidates to pursue professional opportunities and internships at all levels of government and in nonprofit agencies. The Government and Nonprofit Career Fair is Friday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Coffman Memorial Union, Great Hall.

Attend Careers in Electronics Manufacturing in-person panel and hiring event on Tuesday, Oct. 29

This dynamic panel discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2-3:30 p.m., Eden Prairie Library, will cover the skills, training and opportunities available in this fast-growing industry. It's an excellent opportunity for students transitioning into a new field, recent graduates or anyone curious about the future of electronics. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and engage directly with the panelists.

International Students: Attend Understanding U.S. Work Culture and the Recruitment Process on Wednesday, Oct. 23

This webinar will focus on providing advice to international students on navigating cultural barriers during the recruitment process for internships or jobs in the U.S. while studying here. Experts will share tips on best practices for the application and interview process, including how to better prepare for screening calls, video and in-person interviews, and how to navigate U.S. work culture. The event is Wednesday, Oct. 23, noon-1:30 p.m.

Take part in the Tinker at the Toaster Challenge starting Friday, Oct. 25

You are invited to join the Tinker at the Toaster Challenge, a thrilling competition brought to you by Google Cloud and General Mills to ignite AI innovation. This two-part event, exclusive to UMN students, offers the chance to work solo or team up to tackle an AI challenge designed by the forward-thinking team at General Mills. The kick-off event is Friday, Oct. 25, 12:30-3 p.m., Walter Library, The Toaster Innovation Hub. The event is limited to 50 students. 

Apply for the Advanced Energy STEM $20,000 scholarship by Friday, Oct. 25

Advanced Energy's STEM Scholarship provides $20,000 to qualified students majoring in electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or materials science. Scholarship recipients also will have the opportunity to intern with Advanced Energy. The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 25.

First-generation students: Apply for the UMN Biomedical Undergraduate Research Program by Sunday, Dec. 1

The University of Minnesota Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology (MICaB) Program is accepting applications for the spring semester 2025 Minnesota Biomedical Undergraduate Research training program for first-generation students. The application deadline is Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024.

Sign up now for the William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition on Saturday, Dec. 7

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) will host the 84th William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition on Saturday, Dec. 7 in two, three-hour sessions from 9 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m. in Vincent Hall. The Putnam Competition is known as the preeminent mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in the world. Competition practice sessions start Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Are you an undergraduate interested in research but not sure where to start? Meet with a CSE Undergraduate Research Advocate peer during research drop-in hours to get answers to your questions and learn about how to get involved in CSE research. Research drop-ins are held weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during fall semester.

Attend the TUM PREP 2025 Virtual Info Session on Wednesday, Oct. 23

Learn more about the Technical University of Munich's Practical Research Experience (TUM PREP) program and the application process at this virtual info session on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 10:30-11:30 a.m. The TUM PREP 2025 program offers students the opportunity to choose from more than 75 research projects across seven different TUM schools in Munich, Garching, and Freising. This summer's research program will run from Tuesday, July 1 to Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. Applications and all documents are due by Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024. 

Register now for the Pride in STEM panel and networking event on Wednesday, Oct. 23

Join CSE Career Services, employer partners, and alumni on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for a discussion about the importance of LGBTQIA2S+ representation in STEM fields, what it means to be inclusive for employers, and how LGBTQIA2S+ students can show up in these spaces as their authentic selves. The event is open to all University of Minnesota students and food will be provided. Space is limited.

Attend Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory open house on Thursday, Oct. 24

The University's Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL), a world-renowned center for research in fluid mechanics and earth surface dynamics, is hosting an open house on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2-5 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the lab facilities, meet lab managers and engineers who will explain the research planning process at SAFL, and learn about the support available to visiting scholars. Registration is required.

The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) is hosting a research poster session and career fair on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2:30-4:30 p.m., St Paul Student Center, North Star Ballroom. At this event, students will be able to interact with industry professionals, learn about internships, co-ops and potential job opportunities, and network. CSE Career Services will also be available to assist with any job-related inquiries.

The Health Careers Fair is a great opportunity for students interested in health careers to explore degree programs from the University of Minnesota, learn about experiential opportunities, check out pre-health clubs on campus, and start building their networks. First-year students: Apply now for the Big Ten STEM summer program in Dublin, Ireland

Join other Big Ten STEM students in beautiful Dublin for Summer Session 2025 while fulfilling Physics II (PHYS 1302) and liberal education requirements (Historical Perspectives and Global Perspectives). Application deadline is Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.

Attend Unlocking the Code: An Introduction to the Center for Genome Engineering on Thursday, Oct. 24

Apply for a Bolton and Menk University of Minnesota scholarship by Friday, Nov. 22

Lower- and upper-division students who are on track to receive a degree from the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering (CEGE) are eligible for a Bolton & Menk Scholarship worth up to $8,000 ($2,000 per year for up to four years). The application deadline is Friday, Nov. 22.

Get your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at Boynton Health vaccine clinic

Boynton Health is offering seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinics on various dates and locations throughout fall semester. Both vaccinations are available on a drop-in basis. No appointment needed, but you must bring your insurance card.
