The University of Minnesota's Orientation and Transition Experiences is accepting applications for Welcome Week Intern and Digital Media Intern positions.

Welcome Week Intern

The Welcome Week intern helps manage the operational components of the Welcome Week program, including logistics for event planning, training components and event execution. It is essential that the individual hired for this position possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, strong customer service abilities, comfort with written and verbal communication to a variety of constituents, a high level of attention to detail, previous leadership experience and the ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.

Position qualifications:
  • Three semesters of completed coursework at the college level by spring 2025
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Enrolled full time (13 credits) as an undergraduate student through fall 2025 semester
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills, including a high level of attention to detail and an aptitude for handling detailed information.

Digital Media Intern

The Orientation and Transition Experiences (OTE) digital media intern strengthens OTE’s presence in social media and app-based communication. This position is also responsible for creating monthly newsletters and assisting with various projects, including the Explore U event during Welcome Week.

Position qualifications:
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota and maintaining good academic standing
  • An understanding and interest in strategic communication, storytelling, and enhancing the new student experience through effective communication
  • Ability to learn and adhere to university brand standards and divisional marketing practices
  • Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and the desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment
  • A strong interest in emerging social media and a desire to learn more about interactive technology, new media, and AI
