Schedule your appointment for spring registration today

If you are a freshmen or first-year pre-major (lower-division) student or transfer student, it's time to schedule your academic advising appointment in order to register for spring semester.

Last day to withdraw from a fall semester class is Monday, Nov. 11

Monday, Nov. 11 is the last day you can withdraw from a fall 2024 full-semester class without using your One-Time-Only Late Withdrawal or petitioning to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances. If you withdraw now, you will have a "W" on your record.

International Students: Attend the virtual 2024 International Career Summit Monday, Nov. 11-Friday, Nov. 15

The virtual 2024 International Career Summit from Monday, Nov. 11-Friday, Nov. 15, is packed with workshops, presentations and panels designed to equip international students with the knowledge and tools to succeed in today’s job market. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with a community of career experts, alumni, and peers, and prepare for the International Career Collective (ICC) Career Expo on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Tickets are limited, and separate registration is required for each day.

First-year students: Learn about studying in Guatemala at info session on Tuesday, Nov. 12

Attend an information session on Tuesday, Nov. 12, noon-1 p.m., Lind Hall to learn about studying in Guatemala. During spring break 2025, Professor Edgar Arriaga will lead the Freshman Seminar on Sustainability and Green Chemistry in Guatemala, where students will travel to his home country to explore sustainability practices in depth. The deadline to apply is Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024. 

Attend Climate Literacy Teach-In events on Thursday, Nov. 14

The Office of Sustainability and its partners are hosting a variety of events, both in person and online, for Climate Literacy Teach-In Day on Thursday, Nov. 14. Participants can engage in hands-on activities, workshops, tours and discussions with topic experts from across the University to deepen their understanding of climate change and learn what meaningful action looks like.

Celebrate International Education Week Monday, Nov. 18-Friday, Nov. 22

In celebration of International Education Week Monday, Nov. 18-Friday, Nov. 22, CSE Abroad will offer a variety of informational events and giveaways.

Visit and tour CS&E labs on Monday, Nov. 18 and CEMS labs on Friday, Nov. 22

The CSE Undergraduate Research Advocates and Career Services will host research exploration and lab tour events where you can get a behind-the-scenes look at research labs, interact with grad students and faculty, and learn more about how to get involved in research in CSE. Labs included are the computer science and engineering (CS&E) labs on Monday, Nov. 18, and the chemical engineering and material science (CEMS) labs on Friday, Nov. 22. Sign up early as space is limited. Snacks will be provided.

Honors Post-Freshman Admission Application Now Open

The University Honors Program is accepting post-freshman admission applications for Fall 2025. Highly motivated students interested in participating in research, scholarship, or artistic activity under the guidance of a faculty mentor may wish to apply. Attend an information session in the coming weeks. The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2025.

Want to apply your degree to help people and the planet? The Institute on the Environment offers many interdisciplinary courses for undergraduate and graduate students, designed to help you learn about and address pressing environmental issues.

Sign up to play in Plumb Bob's dodgeball tournament on Thursday, Nov. 21

CSE's Plumb Bob student group will host a dodgeball tournament on Thursday, Nov. 21, 5-7 p.m., Recreation and Wellness Center, Multi Activity Court. All CSE students are invited to sign up either as an individual or as a team of five. Pizza will be provided. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5! To ensure you're prepared, visit the M Vote webpage to learn how to register on election day, find your polling place, and make a plan to vote. Additionally, don’t miss out on the Row the Vote initiative led by the Undergraduate Student Government, which aims to increase voter registration and turnout among students.

Enter the BizPitch contest for a chance to win up to $2,000 in cash prizes for the best new business idea. Participants will have 90 seconds to pitch their business idea to a panel of entrepreneurs and investors during the on-campus competition on Nov. 20. Apply to compete by Wednesday, Nov. 6. 

First-gen students: Attend a breakfast in your honor on Friday, Nov. 8

First-generation CSE students and allies are invited to an honorary breakfast hosted by the college on Friday, Nov. 8. Stop by the Mechanical Engineering Building, room 221, between 8:30-10:30 a.m. for free breakfast, first-gen swag, and raffles.

First-year students: Learn about studying in Ireland this summer in an info session

Attend an information session on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Lind Hall, to learn about an opportunity for CSE first-year students to join other Big Ten STEM students in beautiful Dublin for seven weeks in summer 2025 while fulfilling Physics II (PHYS 1302) and liberal education requirements (Historical Perspectives and Global Perspectives). You will also hear from past participants about their experiences in this program. Application deadline is Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.
