TA for CSE 1001!
CSE is looking for students to be teaching assistants (TAs) for the CSE 1001 first-year experience class during fall 2025. These are paid, part-time positions.

Required qualifications
Applicants must:
- be an enrolled CSE undergraduate student seeking a degree and taking at least six credits during the fall 2025 semester
- have completed one or more semesters of coursework in CSE, including spring 2025
- demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- show familiarity with CSE and campus resources and opportunities
- possess strong organizational and communication skills (written and spoken) and cross-cultural competency
- exhibit an interest in working with first-year CSE students
Preferred candidates will:
- be in good academic standing at the time of application and the start of the position
- have broad experience engaging with university, college, and peer support services, including academic advising, career services, student organizations, study abroad, undergraduate research, and more
- demonstrate a desire to work on Student Development Outcomes for personal growth and to support the development of first-year students
- possess previous experience working with young adults in an academic setting
- have experience with reflective writing
Job responsibilities:
This position will assist with the course CSE 1001 First Year Experience, which covers resources and strategies for college success including values, time management, student engagement, major exploration, and decision making, appreciation of differences, personal and academic well-being, career and internship preparation, integrity, ethics and professionalism, and more.
Teaching assistants will be scheduled for a minimum of two hours per week—one hour in class and one office hour held jointly with the course instructor. Additional hours will be necessary for assignment grading, one-on-one appointments with students, and other assigned responsibilities. Most TAs reported four hours on average each week. Each TA will be assigned to a single 50-minute section during Fall 2025, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Before the start of the fall semester, TAs are asked to attend regular training sessions during the spring 2025 semester and must attend their first class meeting during Welcome Week College Day on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

TAs will be required to attend regular training sessions and check-ins throughout the fall semester. These sessions will prepare them for future class sessions and provide opportunities to offer feedback and ask questions.
