The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research program is now accepting applications for internships starting in the summer of 2024.
The HS-POWER Program is open to students majoring in a broad spectrum of homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines as well as DHS mission-relevant research areas which includes social sciences.

- want to learn more about the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and how its research can enhance their research interests and career goals;
- are interested in learning from top scientists and subject matter experts in homeland security related areas; and
- want to network with peers and members of the academic and scientific communities in government facilities conducting research in DHS relevant areas.
Preference will be given to:
- veterans and disabled veterans;
- underrepresented minorities in STEM;
- persons with disabilities; and
- persons with a suitability or security clearance received within the last five years.
