Schedule your appointment for spring registration today

Freshmen and first-year pre-major (lower-division) transfer students: It's time to schedule your academic advising appointment in order to register for spring semester.
Prepare for spring registration!

You may have noticed that a registration hold has recently been placed on your account. These holds are placed on all pre-major (lower-division) students in the college, and will prevent you from registering for spring 2024 semester courses. Your hold will be removed once you have taken the following action steps.

Freshmen and first-year pre-major transfer students (OA Hold)

All non-honors, first-semester pre-major students are required to make a 30-minute appointment with your academic advisor. During this appointment, you can check-in with your advisor about how your current coursework is going, discuss major fit, and, if appropriate, major exploration; and talk about engagement opportunities you are considering. You may also want to review your APAS if you are unsure which liberal education or major coursework you have completed. We also encourage you to discuss your adjustment to the University and ask any questions you have about academic or support resources you may find helpful.

Another goal of this appointment is to prepare you for spring 2024 registration by discussing which courses you may want to register for when your enrollment time comes. Most first-year students will not register for courses until the end of November or early December, but you should plan to schedule your appointment by mid-November to ensure you will be able to register on time.

To schedule an appointment, please use the CSE Advising online scheduling site or call the Academic Advising Office at 612-624-2890. First-year students who have sophomore standing based on previous credit earned still must meet one-on-one with their advisor.

In addition to completing the required registration appointment with their college advisor, honors students should still meet with their honors advisor to ensure they are on-track and meeting honors requirements.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please check out the CSE Academic Advising blog, attend drop-in advising hours (Monday-Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in person in Lind Hall, room 105, and Fridays, 2-4 p.m. via Zoom) or send an email to csestudent@umn.edu.
