Looking for a fun CSE Academic Advising is seeking current CSE students to serve as Orientation Peer Leaders for summer 2024. Peer Leaders have the unique opportunity to partner with CSE Academic Advising and other Student Services staff in welcoming and acclimating new students to the College of Science and Engineering.
Peer Leaders serve as resources for incoming freshmen and transfer students during one of their most important experiences—Orientation. Peer Leaders will develop and refine their leadership skills by:
- Presenting information to incoming students in one-on-one and group settings
- Providing logistical support to the CSE Academic Advising team in preparing for and leading Orientation sessions
- Facilitating activities to prepare new students for registration and their transition to the University
- Working collaboratively with peers and CSE Student Services staff
- Enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering for fall 2024
- Good academic standing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to take initiative
- Desire to share their experiences as a CSE student with incoming freshman and transfer students.
- Committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Must have a reliable internet connection, audio/video Zoom capabilities, and a private workspace for selected remote workdays
- Available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the following dates: June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-18, June 21, June 24-28, July 1-2, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-25, August 19-23, and August 26
