The Increasing Diversity in Environmental Careers (IDEC) Program is offering a 10-week paid summer rotational internship for college freshmen.  

Summer rotational internship details:
  • The program will run from Saturday, June 3 to Wednesday, August 9, 2024.
  • Participants will be compensated at a rate of $17 per hour for a standard 40-hour workweek, scheduled from Monday to Friday.
  • Daily travel accommodations will be arranged for participants.
  • The program will operate using a hybrid model, incorporating both in-person workdays and field trips predominantly within the Twin Cities metro area.
  • Participants are required to arrange their own housing, as neither housing nor housing stipends will be provided by the program.
Those applying should be interested in learning about conservation and natural resource careers at the state level and identify as BIPOC, a woman, or an individual with disabilities. A STEM degree (major or minor) is not required.

If selected, students will meet as a cohort and rotate between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and the Minnesota Board of Water & Soil Resources. Students will explore potential career paths, community engagement efforts, and research projects.
